AgriBus-Caster: New Receiver-Compatibility Mount Points and Correction Monitoring

We have added two new features to AgriBus-Caster, Agri Info Design’s NTRIP service that delivers correction data for RTK-GNSS: (1) “receiver-compatibility mount points” that work well with older and third-party receivers, and (2) “correction monitoring” that lets you check correction reception status with charts and maps in AgriBus-Web. Your existing connection settings and pricing stay the same, and everyone can use these features starting today.

1. Receiver-Compatibility Mount Points (_MSM4 / _LEGACY)

AgriBus-Caster base stations broadcast corrections in the latest RTCM 3.3 format. Some older and third-party receivers do not fully support this format, which could prevent them from reaching an RTK FIX or make them unstable. We have added two mount points that convert the same base station’s corrections into formats suited to such receivers.

Mount point What it broadcasts Intended receivers
Your current mount point (unchanged) The base station’s output as-is AgriBus products and current receivers (try this first)
“your mount point” + _MSM4 The satellite systems your base station broadcasts (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, BeiDou), normalized to the standard MSM4 format Receivers that support RTCM 3.2/3.3 but are unstable with the latest formats (e.g. MSM7)
“your mount point” + _LEGACY GPS + GLONASS converted to the legacy format (RTCM 3.1 generation, messages 1004/1012) Older auto-steering kits and legacy receivers (e.g. units with older Trimble modules)

Nothing changes on the existing mount points. If your setup currently works, no changes are needed.

How to use

In your NTRIP client (receiver-side) settings, simply append _MSM4 or _LEGACY to the mount point name. The host, port, user ID and password are the same as before.

Example: if your mount point is 00001420 → 00001420_MSM4 / 00001420_LEGACY

How to choose:

  1. First, connect with your current mount point
  2. If you cannot get a FIX or the connection is unstable, try _MSM4
  3. For older receivers that still do not improve, try _LEGACY

The mount point names are also shown in the Settings tab of the base station page in AgriBus-Web, as “Mount Point (compatibility)” (_MSM4) and “Mount Point (for older receivers)” (_LEGACY), so you can copy them from there.

Availability and notes

  • Available on all AgriBus-Caster base stations at no extra charge
  • Your plan and usage conditions such as the number of simultaneous connections are shared with the regular mount point (_MSM4 / _LEGACY are alternative outputs of the same base station)
  • Due to the legacy format specification, _LEGACY carries GPS and GLONASS only (Galileo, QZSS, etc. are not included)
  • Some receivers may not improve. If in doubt, please contact support with your receiver’s model number
  • If a base station other than ours is connected, the expected output may not be available (if the base station broadcasts only MSM4-level messages, _LEGACY carries GPS only; if it broadcasts only legacy messages, _MSM4 / _LEGACY are not available)

2. Correction Monitoring (AgriBus-Web)

You can now check the state of your corrections directly on the base station page in AgriBus-Web. When you “can’t get a FIX” or “corrections aren’t arriving”, you can narrow down the cause yourself.

  • Connection status: A color-coded diagram of the path from base station → Caster → tractor (rover), showing at a glance where the link is broken
  • Quality charts: Signal strength (C/N0), satellite count, data throughput and update interval over time, so you can review changes in antenna placement and link quality
  • Map: The base station location and the tractor’s track, color-coded by positioning state (FIX / FLOAT / standalone), showing where in the field accuracy dropped
  • Connection log: Connect/disconnect history for both the base station and the tractor

History is kept for the last 30 days, so you can also look into cases like “it was acting up during yesterday’s work”. When you contact support, we can see the same information, which speeds up diagnosis.

Agri Info Design will continue to improve our technology and services to deliver better tools to farmers. Thank you for your continued support.
